Summer Learning Journey (Week 2) Day 2: Taking Action

Day 2: Taking Action

Activity 1: A Long Walk to Freedom [4 Points]

Day 1: The Beginning
I have just arrived in my new jail cellar at Robben Island Prison. It is really uncomfortable and small, I guess everyday ill be sitting in this cellar doing nothing except working for the jail. I feel really sad and depressed that I can only receive one letter and only see one visitor every six months. In my head I think how did I end up in this prison?, What did I do?, How long is it gonna be until I see my family?

Activity 2: School Strike for Climate

1. Most schools started to change their topic for learning to Climate Change
2. Climate change doesn't just affect humans, it affects everything on Earth
3. Their network is led by students from cities and town across Australia

This year my class and some other classes were doing a programme called EMR
And we had to create a action project about our marine life and rubbish pollution and stuff like that. We also did a little clean up at our local creek named Oakley creek.

Activity 3: "I Have A Dream" [6 Points]

The problem was that they separated the Black from the white. Rosa Parks was on a bus and then it got filled up which meant she had to move and let the white people sit down because she was black, but she didn't she just sat there because she was tired of this law because its just a skin colour. She then got arrested for breaking segregation laws and also got fined but she refused to pay  and she argued that it was the law that was wrong. So she and other people such as Matin Luther King Jr stood up for the African Americans. At that time I would think the white people were unhappy because they dont like black coloured people but at the same time I would think the Black people were happy because they wont get treated disgustingly anymore.
And I wouldve thought that all of the Ku Klux Klan members would be arrested for killing black people because of there colour

Summer Learning Journey (Week 1) Day 5: Against The Odds

Day 5 : Against The Odds

Activity 3: Own Choice [6 Points]
My Mum and Dad
My parents have changed the world to me because my dad goes to work every week day from 3am to 8pm. And my mum stays at home and cleans up and looks after my baby sister. And to me I think looking after 2 children are enough but my parents have to look after 5 of us every single day. They inspire us to be just like them. I just love how hard they work to put food on the table and to keep us warm.

EMR TRIP TO GOAT ISLAND!!!

EMR TRIP TO GOAT ISLAND

It was so fun and interesting at goat island yesterday. we had to arrive to school before 8 am because it takes 1h 30mins to get there. My group and I called the Sharks got into the black, which Mr Walker was driving. It was kind of fun in the van on the way there cause we were playing music, singing and also playing games. I was really amazed at how much trees and mountains there are because there are just trees everywhere. After all of that driving we finally got there, we got out of the van and felt the fresh breeze. We all thought we could just start swimming and stuff but we had to wait like 20 mins after us for the bus to arrive. Once we were all there we had to get changed into our swimming togs and then sit down underneath the tree. While we were underneath the tree Sophie our instructor was talking to us about being safe and what we might see in the water. Once she finished talking the first group Orca's had to get suited up and then go straight down to the shoreline. While they were snorkeling the rest of us where swimming in the rock pools. It was just so awesome because we also saw a eagle ray and lots of giant snappers swimming underneath the rocks. after them it was finally our groups turn to swim. we got suited up and then went down to the beach. we went into the water put on our masks and was looking underneath the water. I saw lots of things like Kina, Snappers and lots of other fish ive never seen before. after we finished snorkeling there was one more group to go and while they were snorkeling we were eating then we got changed and finally left at around 2:30 pm. On he way back in the van everybody was quiet because they were sleeping. This was a really cool experience for me and I hope to go again!!!

I learnt that lots of people are over fishing which is making lots of marine animals die, and whats even worse is that there so much rubbish and plastic inside our beaches killing more marine animals. lots of marine animals are dying because climate change and global warming.

Statistics- Qualitative vs Quantitative data

This week for maths we have been learning about Qualitative and Quantitative data.
What is Qualitative and Quantitative data?
Qualitative is descriptive information so it describes something and Quantitative data is numerical data which means it describes something with numbers.
https://www.mathsisfun.com/data/data.html this link will take you to the model I got this information from.

Citations

Today we were learning about citations and what is citations people may be asking. Citations is when you use someone else information from the internet and you write the authors name, Title, Date, and additional info. people use it so other people can go onto the site you were using. in the picture above I am explaining what plagiarism and what citations are.

Understanding how data is collected and used

This week we are learning about how data is collected and used.
Data can be used in many different ways, this task was kind of challenging for me because it as just a little bit confusing and when the teacher was explaining it to us it was a little bit easier for me because I already knew hot to do tally charts and bar graphs so it was kind of easy as well.
There are some examples for what bar graph and tally charts look like.
Teachers use data a lot because they use data for reports and lots of other stuff for teaching.

Brooklyn's Adverts (Films)

Our second task we did this week for Inquiry was called Adverts (Films).
And for this task we our teacher sent us a google docs and it had six advert films.
We then had to watch all the videos and write like a short review about the video.
I found this task a little bit easy because all we had to do was watch the video and write what happened it and if it was funny, interesting or if it wasn't good at all.
And sorry couldn't make the picture bigger

Brooklyn's Adverts (Static Images)

This week for inquiry we have been working on Static Images.
To do this task our teacher sent us some static images and we had to pick one, we then had to put it into a google drawings. After that we had to write what they did to create this picture.
Here is an example of my work.

Combining Like Terms In Algebraic Expressions

this week my maths group and I have been learning about Combining Like Terms In Algebraic Expressions.
I found this activity a little bit difficult because doing the process for fining the answer to the equation was very confusing for me.
For this activity all we had to do was watch a video about it and then we had to read a model so then we know how to solve it. This activity is probably recommended for years 7 and 8.

Making Sensible estimates

This week for Maths we have been learning how to Make Sensible Estimates.
I found this task a little bit easy and I would probably recommend this task for year 7's.
Sometimes when I was answering the questions It was kind of confusing for me.
I would say that this task was fun for me and I learnt things I didn't know before.
